Holy Ghost!’s Electro-Pop Romance Isn’t Right, But It’s ‘Okay’

holy ghost!, dynamics, okay

Back in May, Holy Ghost! unveiled “Dumb Disco Ideas,” the lead single off the DFA duo’s upcoming sophomore album, Dynamics (due out September 10).  Since then, Nick Millhiser and Alex Frankel have dropped “Teenagers in Heat,” a non-album cut produced by none other than LCD Soundsystem chief James Murphy, and its New York City-centric music video. Now the Brooklynites have shared a second taste of the follow-up to their occasionally brilliant 2011 self-titled debut: The electro-shocked “Okay” pairs numbed-out synths and snapping percussion to a story of romantic self-sabotage. Speaking to Rolling Stone, Frankel said, “‘Okay’ is about being in a situation — in this case a relationship — that feels like a B-Movie: You know you should turn it off but you just … can’t.” Hear it over at RS.
