With summer vacation quickly approaching, schools nationwide are plotting their year-end celebrations. But it’s safe to say, no matter the competition, that the Paul Green School of Rock will trump them all for Devo, the Hold Steady, Dropkick Murphys, Butthole Surfers, and Less Than Jake, among others, have been billed to play the second annual School of Rock Festival (a.k.a. SORFest), set to hit Philadelphia’s Penn’s Landing June 27-29.

Marking the school’s tenth anniversary, the event will also give the real stars a chance to shine; students from the school’s twenty-six branches nationwide will play the fest too, competing in a song of the year contest, as well as the “Shred Contest,” which pits each school’s best musicians against each other in a full-band rock off.

“They will have two minutes to wow their music brethren and scare off any and all female admirers in the audience,” school founder Paul Green said in a statement. “The winner gets bragging rights, new gear and a slot on stage with the All-Stars (a band comprising the program’s best students) during one of their shows.”
