Stream Herbcraft’s Hallucinatory New Album ‘The Astral Body Electric’

Herbcraft

After a dazzling three-year run of smoky, Technicolor releases on a variety of labels (including Hello Sunshine), Portland, Maine psych outfit Herbcraft will release The Astral Body Electric, their first effort for lo-fi standard bearers, Woodsist. Their strongest outing yet, it’s a six-song, 40-minute meander through varying modes of vagabond psychedelia, the Matt Lajoie-led band managing to conjure a thick haze of flutes, rumbling percussion, and pedal indulgences, aided in part by friends in MMOSS, Woods, and MV&EE. It all falls under a title that recalls both Walt Whitman and Ray Bradbury, but, given the cosmic inclinations of Lajoie’s constructions, we’d bet that his fascinations lie more with the latter.
