Watch Heliotropes’ Wistful ‘Everyone Else’ Video

Heliotropes "Everyone Else" Video Premiere

Heliotropes explore the disconnect between body and mind in their latest music video, a three-minute clip for the psych-rock unit’s dusky torch song “Everyone Else.” The four ladies that make up Heliotropes find themselves at a backyard party in their homebase of Brooklyn, sipping drinks, painting faces, playing with sparklers, and firing off little confetti cannons. But as the laughs spill out and the punch bowl empties, the camera keeps cutting back to members of the band who stare blankly at the camera, as if they’re heads are elsewhere. A close listen reveals that Heliotropes are preoccupied with someone in particular: “Come near me / I love to see you smile / In the darkness I come to rest beside you like a child / Like everyone else was unfamiliar.” Watch the video above, and stream all of Heliotropes’ recently released debut album, A Constant Sea, here at SPIN.
