Hear B.o.B.’s Hot Track With Lil Wayne

B.o.B. was everywhere last year, in no small part thanks to smash-hit collaborations with Paramore’s Hayley Williams and Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo. As the Atlanta rapper preps his follow-up to 2010’s The Adventures of Bobby Ray, he’s teaming up with another verse-slinger who’s no stranger to the top of the charts: Lil Wayne. Hear their new song “Strange Clouds” here.

Available on iTunes today, the track features atmospheric club-rap production from hitmaker Dr. Luke (Katy Perry, Britney Spears), with spare but blaring beats, swelling synths, and heavily tweaked vocals. B.o.B. told SPIN earlier this year that his new album “will be an even more direct reflection of what I’ve experienced”– in which case “Strange Clouds” suggests he’s been pouring plenty of drinks and smoking plenty of weed. “I hit her with that pipe, call that Nancy Kerrigan,” B.o.B. declares. “Stay on the greenest greens, call us vegetarians.”

As for Wayne, the Young Money boss’s parole officer might not be so happy to hear he’s still “smokin’ on that strong, that Arnold Schwarzenegger.” Coming off the No. 1 debut of his latest album Tha Carter IV, however, Wayne mostly sticks to boasting, gleefully testing the boundaries of redundancy: “I’m top dog, you top ramen, I’m top dog,” he rasps.

Last year, B.o.B. notched Grammy nominations, an appearance on MTV’s Video Music Awards, and more than 500,000 copies sold of The Adventures of Bobby Ray. He also returned to his mixtape roots with the December release of No Genre.

Lil Wayne, who is celebrating his 29th birthday today, closed out a set in Hawaii earlier this week with a new freestyle. “I’ve been 2 Hawaii many times & every time I’ve had a blast,” Wayne said yesterday on Twitter. “This time was different bekuz it was much better than da rest!
