You might recognize bits and pieces of Babe Ruth’s 1972 flamenco-funk song “The Mexican” from its use in classic hip-hop songs by Afrika Bambataa, Doug E. Fresh, Melle Mel, and countless others – even R. Kelly took a bite of it for 1998’s “Dancing With a Rich Man.” But last month, Wu-Tang rapper GZA and Rage Against the Machine/E Street Band axeman Tom Morello brought the original tune back to life with new rap verses on a recent collaborative single, and they teamed up with the Roots and Kara Lane from k.i.d. to play the tune last night on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. Legendary b-boy dancer Crazy Legs even made a cameo for the performance, which you can watch in the video above.
