GWAR are planning the fourth annual GWAR-B-Q for August 17 and the heavy metal stalwarts have invited Municipal Waste, Corrosion of Conformity, Pig Destroyer, Cannabis Corpse, Loincloth, Kung-Fu Dykes, and more to join. The single-day festival will take place at Hadad’s Water Park in GWAR's hometown of Richmond, Virginia.
Additional performers and ticketing information will be announced in the coming weeks, but, as the event's website points out, festival-goers can expect a "plethora of devastating acts" spread across two stages. GWAR will also be peddling their very own beer, the perfectly named Impaled Ale, as well as their just-unveiled barbecue sauce, which "actually tastes good!" Not exactly a ringing endorsement, but for what it's worth, supplies are currently sold out so there's some kind of demand for the stuff.
In other GWAR-related news, the costumed showmen are also nearly done with their 13th studio album, the follow-up to 2010's Bloody Pit of Horror. This upcoming full-length, due later this year, will be the band's first since the 2011 death of longtime guitarist Cory Smoot, a.k.a. Flattus Maximus.
