Watch GWAR Thrash Through Pet Shop Boys’ ‘West End Girls’

As part of the A.V. Club‘s ongoing cover series, metal legends GWAR dropped by to cover the Pet Shop Boys’ 1984 track “West End Girls,” albeit with a very memorable twist ending. In memory of the theatrical thrash band’s recently deceased frontman Dave Brockie — who performed with GWAR as Oderus Urungus — they tacked on a version of Jim Carroll’s “People Who Died” with some rejiggered lyrics to reference members of the metal community who have passed on.

GWAR’s newest touring member, Vulvatron, seemed especially into their high-energy take on the Pet Shop Boys’ original hit. Perhaps they’ll be flattered by the Foo Fighters’ recent tribute to Brockie and collaborate with the Sonic Highways outfit on a track or two. For now, watch the cover of “West End Girls” above.
