It's been one surprise after another for Pavement fans in the late months of 2009, including the band's decision to reunite for a boatload of 2010 gigs. Now, guitarist Scott "Spiral Stairs" Kannberg has addressed another question that's looming as the California indie band gets back together: Will they ever record again?

"If it's enjoyable for us, I think it is inevitable that we'll make some more music," Kannberg told Australia's The Age. "If I was a fan of the band, I'd want to hear some new music, but we're just going to see how it goes. We're taking it one step at a time."

Pavement's first tour dates are in New Zealand and Australia, beginning in March 2010, and Kannberg -- who, according to The Age, is actually moving Down Under to marry an Australian woman -- offered some insight into what Pavement will be playing next year, even though they've yet to gather for rehearsals.

"I was listening to some Terror Twilight songs the other day [Pavement's 1999 final studio album] and thought, 'Yeah, these are cool songs - they're making me happy. And then the Slanted [and Enchanted] stuff [the band's 1992 debut], I'm excited about playing that again as well."

Kannberg's also hoping Pavement can conjure the same quirky chemistry that he loved in the '90s.

"I'm looking forward to hearing the same jokes from 10 years ago," he said. "We tried to have as much fun as we could. We definitely took it seriously but not like ... too seriously. And we're going to do the same thing on this tour."

The shows start March 1, 2010, in Auckland, New Zealand, then continue through Australia, Japan, the UK, and Spain, before wrapping with a four-night stand in New York City's Central Park, beginning Sept. 21.
