American Vidiots: Green Day Announce ‘Quatro’ Documentary

Green Day Quatro Documentary VH1

The world will not get a Green Day tournot yet at least — but their label has got a temporary fix for those afflicted with RAD (rehab-affected disorder): ¡Quatro! No, it’s not a secret late addition to the in-progress trilogy — read our reviews of ¡Uno! and ¡Dos!; ¡Tré! is out December 7 — it’s a documentary that compiles behind-the-scenes footage from those albums’ making along with the Bay Area punks’ “various spontaneous live performances in select cities across the U.S.” Of course, those shows might seem less spontaneous if Green Day didn’t have to keep canceling.

While a full-length DVD copy of the film won’t be made available until the new year, VH1 will be premiering the highlights on Wednesday, November 28, with subsequent airings on MTV2 and Viacom affiliate Palladia (full schedule on the Green Day site). A statement from Mike Dirnt mostly confirmed the obvious: “Over the last year while we were recording our trilogy, we posted multiple clips every week so fans can see parts of the recording process of ¡Uno! ¡Dos! ¡Tré! […] ¡Quatro! brings our fans one step closer by giving them even more access and revealing what it was like for us to make these records.”
