Green Day Cancel All 2012 Shows, Push Up ‘Tre’ Release Date

Green Day

More bad news today for Green Day fans. The long-running pop-punks have announced they’re canceling the rest of their planned club tour that had been scheduled to start last month and wrap up December 10. They’re also pushing back all January and February tour dates, which Best Coast had been set to open.

The latest cancellations and postponements come after Green Day were forced to cancel their scheduled appearance at New Orleans’ Voodoo Music + Arts Experience, where they were replaced over the weekend by Metallica. This all follows frontman Billie Joe Armstrong seeking treatment after an onstage tirade in Las Vegas. Refunds are available for the canceled shows at the point of purchase, and new dates for the delayed shows are on the way soon.

Bassist Mike Dirnt said Armstrong’s health was first and foremost in the band’s decision. “Obviously the timing for this isn’t ideal, but Billie Joe’s well-being is our main concern,” he said in a statement.  “We are happy to say that Billie Joe is doing well, and we want to thank you all for the outpouring of support and well wishes that we have received, and we can’t wait to see you all again soon.”

As something of a consolation prize for fans, the third album in Green Day’s planned trilogy, ¡Tré!, will now come out on December 11 instead of its previously scheduled release date of January 15, 2013. ¡Dos! is set for November 13, and ¡Uno! is out now.

“We feel bad we have to delay our tour, so to make up for it we want to give our fans the music earlier than we had planned,” drummer Tré Cool said in a statement. “If we couldn’t be there to play it for you live, the least we could do was give you the next best thing.”

Meanwhile, a new ¡Dos! song, a bristling rocker called “Stop When the Red Lights Flash,” has surfaced online. Listen to it below, unless it gets pulled from YouTube:
