With a filmmaker as wonderfully wild and wacky as Michel Gondry, it only seems appropriate that his films be enjoyed in an equally original environment. On Wednesday night (Sept. 20), Gondry fans gathered on the roof of Brooklyn’s historic Old American Can Factory, home of Rooftop Films, for Warner Independent and Flux’s screening of Gondry’s much-awaited new film, The Science of Sleep. Prior to show time, the Willowz, who contributed tracks to the film’s soundtrack, treated filmgoers to a live performance. By the time the film screening began, there was a noticeable drop in temperature, but audience members didn’t seem to notice — the chemistry between stars Gael Garcia Bernal and Charlotte Gainsbourg was enough to keep everyone warm.
