Gold Panda Explores Hometown ‘Community’ in South London Video

gold panda, community, half of where you live

Berlin-based producer Gold Panda envisioned his second long-player as a “city album.” The beatsmith otherwise known as Derwin Panda describes the recently released Half of Where You Live as “a jump from location to location” — a travelogue that, in part, captures the nation-hopping that followed 2010’s Lucky Shiner LP. But latest single “Community” examines the cultural divides of Gold Panda’s childhood hometown. The song just earned an official music video that offers a swift, black-and-white look at the city as the camera speeds through the streets of South London, pausing only for close-up portraits of the area’s residents. Produced in collaboration with British menswear designers Lux & Noah and filmmaker Scott Ward, the clip also features colorful footage of Panda’s recent live performance at Electric Brixton.
