If it's been awhile since you've thought about Girl Talk or Freeway, you're forgiven. the Pittsburgh mash-up pioneer's last album was 2010's All Day, while the Philly rapper's last full-length was 2012's indie bow Diamond in the Ruff. But the two are now teaming up for the forthcoming Broken Ankles EP, and they previewed the new track "Tolerated" this past Saturday (October 5) at New York' Brooklyn Bowl. See above, the track seems to be a play for the type of EDM audience that embraces producers like AraabMuzik and Just Blaze, the latter of which helped mold Freeway's thundering, aggressive sound. Girl Talk's Gregg Gillis, meanwhile, was a superstar DJ to suburban teens before that kind of thing made you millions per year, so it seems sensible that he'd push his music down the path of hammering bass drops.
No other details of the EP have been released, but GT's camp promises they will come "soon." In the meantime, re-watch the instant classic video of Gillis' cat singing Collective Soul, which through no fault of his own is probably the best thing he's ever been involved with.
