Germs to Tour with Actor West Out Front

In perhaps the most meta move in music history, actor Shane West, who is playing the late Germs frontman Darby Crash in an upcoming biopic, will be fronting the original Germs on tour. The Germs were a seminal part of the L.A. punk/hardcore scene before Crash’s untimely death from a heroin overdose on December 7, 1980, at the age of 21. The Germs lineup includes Pat Smear (who went on to be the touring guitarist in Nirvana, and later became an original Foo Fighter), Lorna Doone on bass, and Don Bolles (now of Celebrity Skin) on drums. The revamped Germs have played one show so far, an October 29 punk stunner in L.A. featuring the Dead Kennedys, Marky Ramone, and Suicidal Tendencies. The Germs have three shows booked so far, including one on the 25th anniversary of Darby Crash’s last show. More U.S. and international tour dates will be announced soon.

Germs tour dates:

11/25, Santa Ana, CA (Galaxy Theater)
11/26, Ventura, CA (The Alpine)
12/3, Los Angeles, CA (The Key Club — 25th Anniversary Show)
