Freekey Zekey Inks Multi-Million Dollar Record Deal

Ezekiel Jiles, best known as Dipset MC Freekey Zekey, has had a rough time over the past few years. First came the fatal shooting of his close friend and bodyguard Eric Mangrum in 2003 (Zekey was also wounded in the shooting). Next was the nearly three-year sentence for Ecstasy trafficking the Harlem-born rapper recently finished serving at Durham, NC’s Durham Correctional Center. Yet just days after leaving prison behind Nov. 20, things are looking up for Zekey, way up. He signed a multi-million dollar deal (“light seven digit[s],” as he told Allhiphop.com) with Asylum Records in conjunction with Diplomat Records (where he holds the position of president). Zeke also stands to head up the Southern wing of the Dipset family, though no artists have yet been signed. Freekey Zekey’s long-awaited debut solo album, tentatively titled The Book of Ezekiel, is set to be released by Asylum/Diplomat in March or April.
