Four Tet's Kieran Hebden has fired shots at Arcade Fire! Okay, the dude was likely tongue-in-cheek teasing when he wrote on Twitter, "arcade fires really loved the artwork for my new album." He is, of course, referencing the heretofore unseen circle-inside-of-square motif displayed on his excellent slab of experimental dance music, Beautiful Rewind — upon which a grayscale prismatic disc sits atop a kaleidoscopic rainbow blur.
Not for nothing, Arcade Fire's now streaming, equally good-weird new album Reflektor is covered by a cosmos-evoking circle of black set within an iridescent square of marble/woodgrain/topography. Those Montreal men and women switch it up with a marble statue depicting a man and a woman, which exists outside of the circle/square confines entirely. Meanwhile, Hebden's circle is slightly offset, raising many important questions.
Nah. But it's funny though. We can only hope his likely intentional reference to AF's confusing Grammy win in misnomer-ing the band will result in angry Arcade Fire fans making T-shirts that read "Who is Four Teen?" Three Tet? Four Two? Whatever, have fun:
