Fountains of Wayne Back in the Studio

As much as Stacy’s mom had it going on, Fountains of Wayne can’t rest on the laurels of their 2003 hit album, Welcome Interstate Managers, forever: The band is back in the studio working on their fourth full-length album. According to Billboard.com, the Fountains have already laid down some recordings at a studio in Woodstock, NY, and are now working on refining the album in Stratosphere Studios, the studio co-owned by Fountains of Wayne member Adam Schlesinger, Smashing Pumpkins’ James Iha, and Ivy’s Andy Chase. “For lack of a better word, we jammed a bit in the studio, which is something we’ve never done before,” Schlesinger told Billboard. “I think the record will end up being a combination of doing it the way we’ve always done it and trying different stuff like that.” Schlesinger also said that the band hopes to release the as-yet-untitled album by the end of 2006. This Saturday, Fountains of Wayne will appear at the Mountain Creek Resort in New Jersey, and they’ll appear on Saturday, Jan. 29 at Lincoln Center in New York City as part of the eighth season of the American Songbook Series.
