Foo Fighters’ New Album Is ‘F—king ON,’ With Tapes to Prove It

Foo Fighters, new album, master tape, Dave Grohl

When recent birthday boy Dave Grohl rejoined Queens of the Stone Age as a guest drummer on last year’s …Like Clockwork, Josh Homme and co. announced it with a Twitpic of their soundboard. Now, as Grohl’s Foo Fighters prepare to unleash their eighth album, the band has taken to Instagram with a photo of their master tapes. Oh yeah, and a three-word caption: “It’s F—king ON,” the band wrote late yesterday (via MTV).

Sure, Grohl might just be trying to distract from the tapes of his pre-Nirvana band Dain Bramage that have recently surfaced online, but the image comes at an auspicious time for the Foos. After a pizza-restaurant warm-up gig and a pair of shows in Mexico City, the rock heavyweights are booked for a Super Bowl weekend concert, plus a set at Firefly Music Festival 2014. In August, Grohl told SPIN the band was already recording its follow-up to 2011’s Wasting Light — and on the console immortalized in his Sound City documentary, no less.

Also promised for LP No. 8: a “little secret,” which remains as yet unrevealed. The suspense, it’s suspenseful!
