Foo Fighters Release Second ‘Sonic Highways’ Track, ‘The Feast and the Famine’

Foo Fighters, Feast and the Famine, Sonic Highways

In what looks to be becoming a regular-ish thing, the Foo Fighters have released another track from their Sonic Highways album and TV show experiment in advance of tonight’s new episode. The track this time is “The Feast and the Famine,” a relentless jam with a “Rope“-like stop-start guitar hook, and such Dave Grohl-appropriate lyrics as “New kids get the sound of the drumming” and “Out of the basement and into the news.” (The latter would be a pretty good title for Dave’s eventual tell-all autobiography, actually.)

The track comes from the group’s visit to the D.C. area, as will be documented on HBO this week, which includes visits with members of legendary local punk groups like Minor Threat and Bad Brains. “Feast” also includes lyrics about a nameless monument (“Where is the monument?” “We need a monument!”) so maybe the band got to do some tourist sightseeing while they were in town as well.

Listen above, and watch its genesis at 11:00 EST on HBO.
