It might get lonely being one of the last commercially successful alt-rock bands — if it weren't for all of the tens of thousands of people in the audience. Two of next year's big music festivals have unveiled their lineups, and Foo Fighters (whose Wasting Light is one our favorite albums of 2011) are among the headliners at both of them. Joining Foo Fighters at the top of the bill at Bamboozle will be Blink-182 and Bon Jovi, while Tom Petty and the Eagles will be the other headliners at New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.

Bamboozle, which is set for May 18-20, will return to Asbury Park, New Jersey, after six years at the Meadowlands Sports Complex, and tickets will be available starting Saturday. Lil Wayne and Wiz Khalifa, Bruno Mars, Mötley Crüe, and Taking Back Sunday are also on the bill. Foo Fighters, Blink-182, and Bon Jovi will be following in the footsteps of such previous Bamboozle headliners as Fall Out Boy and No Doubt.

New Orleans Jazz Fest will take place April 27-29 and May 3-6 at the city's Fair Grounds Race Course, and tickets went on sale today. Besides Tom Petty, the Eagles, and Foo Fighters, the fest will also find Bon Iver sharing a bill with influence Bruce Hornsby. If the two keyboard enthusiasts should happen to share a stage, well, that's just the way it is.

Other notable Jazz Fest acts range from current names like My Morning Jacket, Florence and the Machine, Feist, Iron and Wine, and Janelle Monàe to established veterans like Al Green, Dr. John and the Lower 911, Allen Toussaint, the Neville Brothers, Levon Helm Band with Mavis Staples, Herbie Hancock and His Band, and Steve Earle. Also on the bill are acts as varied as John Mayer, Jill Scott, Ani DiFranco, Ne-Yo, Zac Brown Band, Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Esperanza Spalding, and Givers.

And don't think Dave Grohl isn't thankful for the Foos' continued success — he just thanked us all in a heartfelt letter published on the band's website in which he also reveals he's writing songs for the band's eighth album.
