Foo Fighters Release a Smashing Snippet of ‘Congregation’

Dave Grohl

Dave Grohl and his merry band of Foo Fighters have been having a helluva 2014. As they educate Foo fans about music history around the U.S. on HBO’s Sonic Highways, they’ve simultaneously unveiled a selection of songs (“Something From Nothing” and “The Feast and the Famine”) from their upcoming album of the same name, and today they’re previewing another song, “Congregation,” which is set to premiere in full as part of tomorrow’s Nashville-centric episode.

Though we only get 30 seconds of “Congregation,” it’s immediately apparent that that this song doesn’t mess around. Flooding your ears with a mess of hard-rock riffs, the track is a crash-bang-boom cacophony of Dave’s trademark screechy, scratchy vocals, arena-friendly guitar melodies, and Taylor Hawkins’ heavy-handed percussion.

You can hear the entire track when “Congregation” premieres on Friday’s episode of Sonic Highways, airing on HBO at 11 pm ET, and, as if you need any more persuasion to watch, please also know that there will be special appearances by such Nashville staples as Dolly Parton, Carrie Underwood, and Zac Brown

Oh, and lest we leave out the most important thing, look out for Sonic Highways (the album) on November 10.
