Flume Remixes Arcade Fire’s ‘Afterlife’ for a Dreamy Dance Floor

Flume Arcade Fire Remix Single Afterlife

If you have 10 spare minutes, lend your ears to Flume’s booming new remix of Arcade Fire’s “Afterlife.” With single artwork that looks like it was lifted from the “Dark Horse” music video, this dance-floor interpretation trucks along to a shuffling beat as Win Butler’s vocals are reworked in a dizzying number of ways. The original version of the song appeared on the band’s Reflektor, which was released to strong reviews last fall, and Flume debuted the remix on KCRW last week.

Earlier this year, the Australian producer tried his hand at remixing Lorde’s “Tennis Courts” and also worked with Ghostface Killah (newly back with the Wu-Tang Clan) on the song “Space Cadet” and its equally as far-out music video. Arcade Fire, on the other hand, has been busy covering songs like “Smells Like Teen Spirit” (and “Been Caught Stealing” and the Beverly Hills Cop theme) on their current cross-country tour.
