FLAG to Tour Black Flag Songs Across North America

flag, tour, black flag

FLAG — the Black Flag reunion that features original vocalist Keith Morris, guitarist-singer Dez Cadena, bassist Chuck Dukowski, drummer Bill Stevenson, and Descendents guitarist Stephen Egerton — will bring their version of the Hermosa Beach hardcore band on the road later this year with a tour of North America.

The five-piece have announced a total of 13 dates so far, starting with a May 27 appearance at the Punk Rock Bowling festival in Las Vegas, and ending with a show in Boston on September 20. Between those performances, FLAG will invade Pittsburgh, Detroit (for Metallica’s Orion Music + More Festival), Cleveland, Buffalo, Toronto (for North by Northeast), Montebello, Los Angeles (for FYF Fest), Minneapolis, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New York.

SPIN recently witnessed FLAG tear through a high-speed set at the Moose Lodge in Redondo Beach, the same venue where Black Flag played its first-ever show in 1979. The band has since shared footage from that homecoming gig, which can be seen below.

The other Black Flag reunion — the one that calls themselves “Black Flag” and that features founding guitarist Greg Ginn, vocalist Ron Reyes, drummer Gregory Moore, and touring bassist Dave Klein — recently took a swipe at their rivals, accusing them of being a cover band that’s “mailing it in.” Watch FLAG’s performance of “My War” and decide for yourself.
