First Spin: Get Stones Throw Rhymer Homeboy Sandman’s ‘The Miracle’

Demented New York rhymetwister Homeboy Sandman is the latest signing to the Stones Throw roster, an perfectly slow-flowing East Coast version of their woozy, blunted, sun-damaged 15-year legacy. The cover of the Subject:Matter EP (due tomorrow) boasts “6 rap songs dealing with content no one has ever rapped about before in the history of rap music. Unfortunately not a difficult thing to do.” For example, the Wild Style subway ride groove of “The Miracle” seems to be about evaporation, alphabet soup, rainbows, David Blaine, and who knows what else. Fans of Serengeti, Organized Konfusion take note.
