Fiona's An Odd Apple

Fiona Apple, long infamous for her public crying jags, and her erratic behavior, may now be known for an unhealthy obsession with pinecones. According to a New York Times interview with Apple, during her six-year hiatus she spent her time "[m]aking little pine-cone people with razor blades.... That's all I did." Apparently the pinecone folk were just part of her creative process, though, and helped Apple sort out her latest album Extraordinary Machine, her first since 1999's When the Pawn.... ) about Fiona's voracious fans protesting outside the Sony offices when Machine was being held. The long-awaited album is due out in stores on October 4; pinecone people will be first in line.
