Fall Out Boy Reveal a Superstar Collaborator

Move over, Lil Wayne. Your rumored appearance on Fall Out Boy’s forthcoming full-length, Folie à Deux, may be surprising, but it’s nothing compared to who’s actually confirmed to appear: songwriting legend Elvis Costello!

In an statement made to absolutepunk.net, Pete Wentz and Co. discussed the buzz worthy team-up: “We’ve announced a couple of guests on the record but ‘I wish you luck with a capital F’ (a lyric from Costello’s “Love Went Mad”) is just one of the thousands of genius ideas thought up by Elvis Costello and he’s gonna be singing on Folie a Deux… this has been an amazing experience for Fall Out Boy as he is one of our heroes… We can’t wait for you to have the chance to hear it.”

Further details about the collaboration have yet to be announced — but it looks like we’ll have to wait a little longer than we thought to hear the set. A post made to Fall Out Boy’s official website stated that Folie‘s release will be pushed back from November 4 to December 16, citing the original release date’s Election Day tie-in as one of the reasons for the shift. “Six months ago we thought it would be a fun idea to release our album on Election Day but this is not the election to be cute. We felt as though rather than making a commentary we were only riding the wave of the election.”

The band promises “a surprise or two,” as well as a preorder program to satiate fans’ hunger for new material. If those surprises include even stranger collaborations, you have our full and undivided attention, Mr. Wentz.
