Explore the Sound of Color

What is the sound of color? To answer such an obscure query, Gap tapped five up-and-coming musicians to choose a color, pen a song channeling the particular hue, and then team with a director for an accompanying music video.

Amongst the pool of selected artists is singer/songwriter Marie Digby, she of the meteoric rise to fame via a YouTube cover of Rihanna’s “Umbrella” — and subsequent controversy. With her tune “Paint Me in Your Sunshine,” Digby sonically explores the color yellow, and then while on the scenes of her music video — directed by Ryan Ebner and featuring famed graffiti artist Ellis Gallagher — checks in with SPIN.com to shed a little light on her creative endeavor. Watch Digby’s explanation of the video’s concept, then view the final product below.

And to check out fellow color-curious artists the Raveonettes’ take on black and white, Dntel’s interpretation of red, the Blakes’ translation of blue, and Swizz Beatz’ rendering of green, head over to soundofcolor.com.
