Dating back to their emergence in the late-’80s, Mark Olson and Gary Louris set a high-water mark for delicate, emotive vocal harmonies as co-frontmen of Americana rockers the Jayhawks. But in the mid-’90s, those dulcet tones weren’t enough to keep the duo united under the Jayhawks moniker, and Olson left to pursue other projects while Louris carried on with the rest of the band.

Now, some 13 years after their last Jayhawks album together, the duo reunite on Ready for the Flood (out Jan. 27), a solid return to their alt-country roots.

Listen to our exclusive stream of “Turn Your Pretty Name Around,” Flood’s tender ballad. Does it soar to the duo’s Jayhawks-era heights?
