EXCLUSIVE: New Song from JEFF the Brotherhood

100709-jeff-brotherhood-main.jpg

Nashville band of brothers JEFF the Brotherhood, who broke through with the raw ’70s infused rock of their early 2010 full-length, Heavy Days, are hitting the studio again this summer to record a follow-up, but are releasing a few singles in the meantime. Hear “Diamond Way” below.

The song, just out as a split 7-inch single with San Fran rocker Ty Segall, opens with a restrained, New Wave-y groove before unraveling into a fuzzy, slow-driving spaz-out, a la Screaming Trees. The brothers Jake and Jamin Orrall — who appeared in SPIN’s breakout style feature earlier this year — recorded the song this winter in a buddy’s practice space, and Jake tells us it’s about “mind control and spirituality.”

The duo’s summer tour kicks off tonight in Indianapolis, and they’ve just been added to next weekend’s free Pool Party in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, supporting Murder City Devils and Obits. See the full dates below, and tell us what you think of the track in the comments.
