Exclusive MP3: R&B Brits, the Heavy

081020-heavy.jpg

The Heavy drive their distinctly British take on R&B right across 110th Street on “Set Me Free,” the mellow single — available for download here — that’s the title track of their brand new EP. Latched to an acoustic guitar backbone that recalls the Roots’ slinky hit, “The Seed 2.0,” “Set Me Free” unfolds into a vocal jam that finds frontman Kelvin Swaby dueling with some thick-voiced ladies who, we can only hope, are sporting matching miniskirts and busting out loose-limbed choreography.
