Exclusive: Cool Punk Band Mean Jeans Debut Video
Video
Northwest power-pop punks the Exploding Hearts may be gone, but they're certainly not forgotten. Up-and-coming Portland, OR, band Mean Jeans, who share a label and hometown with the late Hearts, also embody their spirit and sound. Just check out the video for "Steve Don't Party No More," off Mean Jeans' 2009 debut Are You Serious, below.
While "Steve" may have quit partying, Mean Jeans have not. In the clip -- exclusive to SPIN.com -- the guitar, drum, and bass trio throw a wild house party, slamming beers, scarfing pizza, and jumping around in a pool with bikini-clad babes, while their familiar brand of Ramones-esque punk plays along. The band breaks for a workout at the gym, though, which includes doing pushups and smoking cigarettes simultaneously! Healthy!

Without a doubt their debut CD is the best of the year. Every song is good, it makes you happy, it makes you pogo and even if you don't party anymore you can still have fun when you sing along. But don't tell everyone, I don't want the fame to go to their heads, let them stay just under the radar like the Ramones in the early days.
I think they should be the opening band for OFF! (if OFF! comes to their town)

Steve may be a family man now (Black Flag style?), but we all know he can still party. Hey K! Hope you're all doing well in Hoosierville. Congrats to the Mean Jeans on the record!
With love from another one of Howie's ex-friends who still parties. ;)
PS: The Captcha for this post was "commode in". So fitting.
