Emay, the stage name of Ontario rapper/producer Mubarik Gyenne Adams, is prepping for the fast-approaching release of his new EP, Sinner, Songwriter. Due out December 16 via Hi-Scores Recording Library, the short-player features the just-shared, chilled-out second track, “MAIR,” on which the Seeing Suge member gets production assistance from San Francisco’s glo-fi mainstay Giraffage.
Opening with a sweep of metallic echoes, the song opens as Adams vents his inner demons regarding love and lust. “It’s about time that somebody blew Venus up / For fabricating relations, it’s such a scenic bluff,” he sneers over a gentle piano melody and sizzling hi-hat rhythms. With verses this cold, the wordsmith will numb hearts. Stream the track below.
