The Eagles' mega-selling 1977 album Hotel California has set a new record by becoming the world's largest vinyl record. To celebrate the imminent reopening of California venue the Forum, marketing and promotion company Pop2Life has topped the Inglewood arena with a 407-foot-wide replica of the Eagles' fifth album, as CBS Los Angeles reports.

The oversize tribute also commemorates the Eagles' upcoming six-night residency at the Forum. When the classic rock band takes the stage on January 15, they'll be the first performers to play the 18,000-seater since its $100 million renovation under the ownership of the Madison Square Garden Company. The Eagles also have performances booked for January 17, 18, 22, 24, and 25.

According to venue officials, a team of 75 workers constructed the giant LP over the course of 10 days during the Christmas holiday. The 4,884-inch record, which is in fact made of vinyl, can spin at a speed of 17 miles per hour. Mercifully, it doesn't actually play "Hotel California."

The entire structure has a total weight of more than 50,000 pounds (or 25 tons), features letters as tall as the iconic Hollywood Sign, and can be seen from a mile above.

Check out a list of forthcoming events at the Forum — including concerts by Justin Timberlake, Kings of Leon, Imagine Dragons, and Paul Simon and Sting — by heading to the venue's website
