Dum Dum Girls Channel Jem & the Holograms in ‘Rimbaud Eyes’ Video

Dum Dum Girls Rimbaud Eyes Video Cartoon

In March, we saw Dum Dum Girls rip through “Rimbaud Eyes” at SPIN’s own SXSW day party. Now we get the official video for that Too True album highlight, and replaces the live ferocity (which also captivated us at Coachella) with a gauzy, cool feel thanks to the animation commissioned by director Tamaryn. The pink-hued cartoon version of Dee Dee Penny and co. can’t help but recall Jem and the Holograms, and the timing couldn’t be better. While manager Scooter Braun and director Jon M. Chu catch flack for spearheading a film version of that ’80s cartoon sans female input, here come Dum Dum, out to reclaim the legend. While you’re at it, don’t miss their gothy “Too True to Be Good” video, and the short film version of “Are You Okay” helmed by Bret Easton Ellis.
