Dub Thompson’s ‘No Time’ Video Is a ‘Sexy Game of Cosmic Twister’

Earlier this month, SPIN debuted Dub Thompson’s “No Time,” a bleak strip of reggae-inflected psych-pop that appears on the upcoming 9 Songs LP, out June 10 via Dead Oceans. Now, 19-year-olds Matt Pulos and Evan Laffer — who make up the project’s core duo — have shared an official video for the track, which the guys describe as a “sexy game of cosmic Twister” (via NPR). That’s definitely one way to describe the visual, and here’s another: The clip bears similarity to Dub Thompson’s VHS-flavored “Dograces” video, but instead of capturing a fuzzy live performance, “No Time” unfolds like an interactive Salvador Dalí painting, as the POV floats past bizarre clocks and purple pyramids. Take a tour through Visual Surreality above, and head over to iTunes to pre-order 9 Songs, which, by the way, only features eight songs.
