Watch Supergroup Drumgasm’s Absurd, Orgasm-Free Album Trailer

Drumgasm

Drumgasm, the all-drummer supergroup comprising solely members of SPIN’s 100 Greatest Drummers of Alternative Music list, will be here soon. Janet Weiss, Zach Hill, and Matt Cameron will release their debut album, Drumgasm, on August 27 via Jackpot Records, according to the awesomely ridiculous video trailer above. Multiple outlets are reporting that the album will consist of two roughly 20-minute tracks, each titled “Drumgasm,” though sadly that’s not apparent from the trailer.

Weiss has drummed for the likes of Sleater-Kinney, Wild Flag, Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks. Hill has drummed for Death Grips, Hella, and Boredoms. Cameron has drummed for Pearl Jam and Soundgarden. The listing for the album on the Portland record label’s pre-order page declares, “Three people, three drum kits, some microphones and a reel of tape — that’s it: pure spontaneity.”

Weiss is also releasing a new album with Quasi, her band with Heatmiser’s Sam Coomes. The follow-up to 2010’s American Gong is a 24-track double LP titled Mole City, and it’s due out on October 1 via Kill Rock Stars/Domino. Quasi will be hitting the road this fall. Watch the video for the tenderly fuzz-drenched “You Can Stay But You Got to Go” below, along with Quasi’s Mole City track list and tour dates.
