Drake debuted another song from his upcoming Nothing Was the Same on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon Friday night (September 13). Following the bow of “Wu-Tang Forever,” Drizzy appeared on the NBC late-night talk show to premiere “Too Much,” a stunning, piano-led track that features Sampha (who also contributed to Drake’s non-album highlight “The Motion”) playing keys and singing the hook, “Don’t think about it too much / There’s no need for us to rush this through / Don’t think about it too much / This is more than just a new lust for you.”
Drake introduced the song by saying, “Before I do this song, I just want to say to my friends and family, I want the best for everybody and I love you all.” The Toronto rapper then delivered a fierce performance that, in part, doubled as a carpe diem pep talk to a loved one: “My uncle used to have all these things on his bucket list / And now he’s acting like, ‘Oh well, this is life, I guess,’ / Nah, fuck that shit / Listen, man, you could still do what you want to do.”
The MC born Aubrey Graham also sat down with Fallon to talk about the much-discussed cover art for Nothing Was the Same, shower future tourmate Miguel with praise, and flirt with fellow guest Scarlett Johansson. Drake also played a round of charades with Fallon, ScarJo, and the Roots’ Black Thought.
