Drake and Kanye West don't join forces just every day, so the Yeezus apostle's unannounced appearance with the Nothing Was the Same man last night in Berlin marks something of a specal occasion. So special, in fact, it's worth watching despite the unfortunate quality of the fan video above, as West rips into "Black Skinhead" with Drizzy beside him waving an arm emphatically.
The two took the stage together last August in Toronto for the fourth annual OVO Fest, each lavishing the other with praise. But more recently their names had been linked by, um, shoes, with Drake signing a Nike deal after SPIN's 2013 Album of the Year-maker jumped to Adidas. It's worth noting, too, that West devoted extra time to "Black Skinhead" when he performed it as part of an all-career medley this week on Late Night With Seth Meyers.
As for the "Hold On, We're Going Home" singer, he's still dealing with fallout from ill-advised comments about Rolling Stone. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Drake and public relations firm ID-PR have split after he posted a series of mainly now-deleted tweets saying he was "disgusted" the late Philip Seymour Hoffman got the cover instead of him and insisting negative comments he made about Yeezus were off the record. Drake apologized, sort of, in a longer note, saying he was sorry "to anybody who took my initial comments out of context" and "to everybody who took my cover comments the wrong way." It appears that West, at least, bears no hard feelings.
