Drake Dodges Rihanna Rumor on ‘Chelsea Lately,’ Reveals Beyonce Team-Up

Drake’s Nothing Was the Same is out today, and the “Hold On, We’re Going Home” artist has stayed active on the interview circuit. Whatever your impressions on the album, the former child star’s affable TV presence is ruthlessly charismatic, as he demonstrated recently on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. More recently, Aubrey Drake Graham has taken time to flirt steamily on E!’s Chelsea Lately and chat for a half-hour with Ryan Seacrest.

The Chelsea Lately sitdown, which you can watch above (via Mr. World Premiere), is the more entertaining of the two. Drake brings a gift bag and trades barely-innuendo with host Chelsea Handler, smoothly moving along when asked, “Are you still penetrating Rihanna?” Handler gets in plenty of memorable quips, whether comparing the child on Nothing Was the Same‘s album cover art to Blue Ivy Carter or remarking on the boy’s Afro, “I didn’t realize you were black when you were a kid, too.”

Drake’s conversation with Seacrest was notable more for its breadth — detailing the inspirations beyond each song on the album — than for humor or major revelations. But the rapper-singer did confirm he has been in the studio with the title subject of his “Girls Love Beyoncé.” He said: “I reached out to her and asked if I could come and be a part of her project and she was kind enough to invite me out there. And we did some work together.” Sadly, though the interview was for iHeartRadio ahead of Drake’s performance at the Las Vegas music festival of the same name, he was not yet sporting the gobstopping Jaden Smith shirt he wore that night.
