Get "Boyfriend," a lovelorn rocker off the Los Angeles band's July 27 release Crazy for You.

Los Angeles outfit Best Coast nabbed a Breaking Out nod in SPIN’s June issue, and “Boyfriend,” the opening track from their debut full-length Crazy for You (out July 27), reminds us why. Download the song below.

On “Boyfriend,” singer-guitarist Bethany Cosentino pleads about a platonic friend she knows she’ll never romantically woo, over a fuzzy wash of surf guitars, snappy drums, and reverb-y backing vocals that are part Grrrl punk and part Phil Spector wall-of-sound. “I wish he was my boyfriend / I’d love him till the very end / But instead he’s just a friend.”

Crazy for You follows a string of well-received 7″ singles that landed Best Coast as one of SPIN’s 50 Must-Hear bands at SXSW. The band returns to the road on July 18 at the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago, Illinois.
