SPIN cover star Kurt Vile is planning a special gift just in time for the holidays. As SPIN previously noted, on November 19, the Philadelphia all-star will deliver an expanded edition of his Essential Wakin On a Pretty Daze album that includes a new, seven-track EP titled it’s a big world out there (and i am scared). Now, the psych-inclined folkie has shared a first glimpse of the upcoming release by way of finger-picked treasure “Feel My Pain.”

“This track was recorded during the first cluster of sessions at Dreamland Studios, May 2012,” Vile writes on the Matador Records blog, adding that those same sessions birthed most of the nine-minute beaut “Wakin On a Pretty Day.” The singer-songwriter continues in his post: “We added a lot to this later only to strip it back again favoring the raw to the chamber-pop this go ’round. Spectral arrangement and a mellow-ominous delivery (if such a thing is possible)…”

Download “Feel My Pain” through Matador, and pre-order the it’s a big world out there (and i am scared) EP on 12-inch vinyl through the label’s online store. Reservations of the Wakin On a Pretty Daze: Deluxe Daze (Post Haze) set are also available through Matador. And be sure to read SPIN’s in-depth cover story Kurt Vile: Lost in the Stars?
