Rilo Kiley frontwoman Jenny Lewis and Scottish-American singer-songwriter Johnathan Rice, who is also Lewis’ boyfriend, recently announced a new project called Jenny and Johnny. Now the duo have released “Scissor Runner,” the first taste of their August 31 release I’m Having Fun Now. Download the song now from the nifty widget below (in exchange for your email address).
Power-pop with crunchy electric guitars, a driving backbeat, and upbeat vocal interplay, the track is straight up breezy California fun. “I was on standby / Catching the red eye / I missed my flight,” sings Johnny. “I forgive you,” Jenny replies. “Let’s lay low in the San Fernando,” they coo together. Too cute.
