Diarrhea Planet Unleash Rip-Roaring ‘Spooners’ for Adult Swim

Diarrhea Planet 'Spooners' Adult Swim Single

Another week, another terrific Adult Swim’s Single Series track. While Diarrhea Planet’s new song “Spooners” doesn’t come with a video featuring Jesus and the Predator like Future’s “Coupe” did, we’ll forgive the Nashville sextet because they, as usual, bring the thunder. It starts off pretty sparse, but one by one, all four guitarists make themselves known to form like the garage-punk Voltron. It stops about midway through and for a second you think it’s over, but you’re dead wrong, and the boys come back with another minute and change of fist-pumping fury. Check out “Spooners,” which was written around the time of their 2011 debut LP Loose Jewels, over at Consequence of Sound. Deafheaven, Mastodon, and Run the Jewels are among the remaining seven artists set to release Adult Swim Singles through the rest of the summer. Meantime, enjoy “Bigger Party” by Speedy Ortiz, whose Real Hair EP is one of SPIN’s picks for the Best Overlooked Albums of 2014 So Far, below.
