Deftones Bassist Hospitalized

Chi Cheng, bassist for Sacramento, CA, rockers the Deftones, has been hospitalized following a serious car accident in Santa Clara, CA, Monday night. According to Billboard.com, Cheng is in a coma and in "serious but stable condition." Cheng, 38, is being treated in a hospital in northern California.

Meanwhile, Deftones singer Chino Moreno has posted a message to fans on the band's website, writing, "Chi is one of the strongest people I know, and I'm praying that his strength will get him through this. Please say a prayer for him as well."
The band's next studio album, Eros, is due in spring 2009 via Warner Bros Records.
