Death Grips Cancel More Tour Dates After Lollapalooza No-Show

Death Grips, cancel, more shows,

Death Grips, SPIN’s 2012 Artist of the Year, are having a strange week. The Sacramento noise-rap crew failed to show up to an afterparty show on August 2 at Chicago’s Bottom Lounge, then dropped out of a Lollapalooza headlining set the next day. It was all somewhat mysterious.

Now concert promoters have announced that Death Grips shows in Boston on August 6 and New York on August 7 are also canceled. The group’s next planned gig August 9 at Baltimore’s Ottobar has also been canceled.

There’s not much else we can say for sure  at this point. A Death Grips rep told the Chicago Tribune on August 3, “Management and band MIA still.” A post in the meantime on Death Grips’ Facebook page points out that the band is scheduled to perform at FYF Fest in Los Angeles on August 24. (FYF Fest announced its lineup, including Death Grips, way back in May.)

Death Grips are also on the bill for Corona Capital Fest in Mexico City on October 12 and Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin on November 8. Previously, Death Grips canceled their 2012 summer tour to finish freely downloadable album NO LOVE DEEP WEB (we made dick jokes).
