Daughtry Fueled for Post-Idol Career

While Bo Bice is busy getting chased by extras and hired groupies in his newest music video, the latest American Idol rocker outcast, Chris Daughtry, might really get to live the life.

After Wednesday’s (May 10) Idol episode that saw the show’s last rocker standing booted from the competition, to the obvious shock of the silent audience, the lead singer-less members of Fuel took to the airwaves to put out a bid for Daughtry. On Thursday, bass player Jeff Abercrombie and guitarist Carl Bell went on the TV show Extra to pitch the idea to Daughtry.

“Chris, if you are watching,” Abercrombie said on TV, “we’ve talked about this before and if you want to entertain it again we’ll take it and go.”

Daughtry had been asked to join the band earlier in the Idol season after he performed their song “Hemmorhage,” but thought it best to see how far he could go in the competition. As of Thursday, Daughtry was still unsure if he’d take the gig with Fuel or pursue his own solo career.

“I’m a songwriter myself,” he said, according to the Associated Press. “To be able to launch my own career would be a dream come true.”

Fuel’s former lead singer, Brett Scallions, left the group in February.
