Watch Danny Brown Perform ‘Dip’ and a Kindergarten Rap on ‘Arsenio Hall’

Danny Brown, 'The Arsenio Hall Show," "Dip," 'Old'

They want that old Danny Brown back? Man, he’s been rapping this way since an age when Arnold Schwarzenegger could’ve been his undercover-cop teacher. Earlier this year on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the Detroit MC and Purity Ring’s Megan James gave a life-affirming rendition of “25 Bucks,” from Brown’s superlative-worthy 2013 album Old. Last night, the XXX maestro visited The Arsenio Hall Show, where he joked (?) he’d been rapping about drugs and violence since kindergarten, reciprocated flirtations from Kathy Griffin, and explained how he broke his front teeth (which you already know if you saw his posi-vibes 2012 “Grown Up” video). After reciting what could’ve been one of those pre-elementary freestyles, Brown delivered a ferocious performance of Old‘s “Dip.” It’s not a tumor.
