Rap Star Repents for Pouring Champagne on Video Vixens

damon dash big pimpin apology champagne

Rap entrepreneur Damon Dash would like the women of the world to know that his days of pouring bubbly all over their bikini’d bodies are over, and that he’s sorry for objectifying them in Jay Z’s “Big Pimpin'” music video back in the year 2000. At the time, “Champagne Dame” was Jigga’s manager and Roc-a-Fella Records business partner. He’d recently helped organize a $19 million tour for his pal, and was likely feeling… flossy.

“You do something when you’re 20 and you’re still paying for it when you’re 40,” he told Hip Hop Motivation in an interview. He would’ve been 29 then, actually, and is 43 now, because math. He continued, “I [am] a completely different person than I was when I was 20… At 20 you don’t see that, you think 40 is never coming.”

Dash, who recently made up with Jay Z after years of feuding, explained the context for his change of heart. “If my son ever did that I would be appalled,” he said. “I wouldn’t want nobody to do that to my daughter or nobody that I care about. Sorry to all the girls that I poured champagne [on].” Watch his full apology above, and check out what he’s apologizing for below (he clearly steps over the line c. 0:50).
