Crossing Delancey

The Delancey was packed all night Friday, from the first strums of Palomar, a peppy New York quartet, until Viva Viva in the wee hours of the morning. Musicians, promoters and fans crowded around the red velvet-laced stage that barely separated the audience from the acts. Flickering chandeliers adorning the ceiling and walls were the only sources of light downstairs at the dark Lower East Side venue, which sits at the base of the Williamsburg Bridge, the gateway to Brooklyn's stylish hood. SPIN.com was there to ask them about their experiences this week at the CMJ music festival. STORY BY RUBINA MADAN. PHOTOS BY HEATHER GALLAGHER
